Flat Roof Houses
The houses in the Olympus Cove were required to have flat roofs to minimize the impact on the view of the mountains and the valley. People planted tall trees and blocked the view.
This stylish house expresses the ideals of the mid-century modern movement which sought to create homes that blend into the environment rather than dominate it as happens with the McMansion style that is popular today.
The one problem with the flat roof design is that the heavy snow loads of the Wasatch can weigh the roofs down.
