Many pet owners have RFID chips with identification information injected into their skin. Lost animals often lose their collars when out on the street.
For this system to work, however, people who find pets need to take them to a clinic for a scanning.
The little kitty in the box is currently going by the name Tricks. Tricks showed up at my niece's door on Halloween ... hence the name.
Well, I took the cat in to the cat in for a chip check today. Sadly, this kitty was chip free and continues the sad sorrowful life as a lost kitten.
Speaking of lost animals. Six years ago, during the first big snow storm of November, a lost puppy showed up on our porch. That puppy's name is Coco. She later decided to adopt us as her new family.
